I became disabled in October of 2010 and applied for SSDI. I have been treated by my doctor every week since then and have retained an attorney for my SSDI process.
I have been paying in to the Social Security system for 38 years and am 55 years old. I had been at my last job for 20 years until I had to retire in June 2012 due to my disability.
During my hearing the judge asked the Vocational Expert if I would be able to do full time work in my present position and she told the judge that I would not be able to. The judge then asked I would be able to do full time work in any position and the VE answered no, that I would not.
My doctor also provided paperwork that stated that I have a total disability and could not do any work. I also provided a letter from my former boss who I worked directly for the entire 20 years stating that I was a dependable and dedicated employee until I started missing a lot of days during the summer of 2010 due to the start up of my disability.
I just found out that my case is with a Decision Writer and would be turning the case back over to the judge in a couple of weeks.
My question is, with my work history, age, doctors treatment and findings of the Vocational Expert, what would be my chances of being rewarded benefits?

Hi There,
I am very sorry to hear that. It really does take a lot longer than it should. Wishing you nothing but the best.
I saw the ALJ about 90 days ago no decision has been made. But now I been summoned back to see the ALJ again? Whats the reason for this?

Hi Steven,
The ALJ may need more information to make a decision about your case.
Online Status is Pre Hearing Review since April 2017, also have a attorney. What does this mean it says disability payments are being processed. Also it has estimated funds unavailable where my retirement used to be.

Hi Diane,
I could not say, you may want to contact the SSA to check that status of your case.
I have been waiting since November 2014 for a final decision. I was finally able to see an ADJ Judge in early June of 2017, here it is mid February 2018 and still have no answer. I've called to check multiple times and just keep getting told it's still with the judge. It's terribly frustrating because I can't work, I was a CNA and a Waitress before, and I can't be on my feet for long periods or I can literally not walk the next day. I have severe Migraines, so bad so that I have to get Botox Shots to help with them. I am constantly exhausted. Im lucky if i can make it through the day without taking a nap or laying down. That's just a few issues. The Vocational Worker stated I wouldn't be able to do any work I'd previously done, and that I wouldn't be able to do anything else. She also stated that no job would hire me because I can't make it through the day, and that none would allow me to miss as much work as I'd Possibly miss due to my issues. She requested tons of info, and received over 250 pages from my Drs just from Nov. 16- March/April 2017. The day I went in I had a Severe Migraine and upon leaving my hearing I had to go get a shot from my Dr. I know there are others worse off than me, but it'd be really nice to know, because all of this waiting is killing my anxiety.

Hi Cam,
Every case is different and can take varying amounts of time. You should receive a decision letter in the near future about your case.
I will be 57 in 3 months, and have worked full time and then some since I was 17. I stopped working full time in Oct 2016, only working a day or two a week due to my severe back pain. In Nov 2016 I was diagnosed with scoliosis and spinal spinal stenosis, and also have painful neuropathy in my feet from previous chemo treatments, and also lymphedema in my right arm from lymph nodes being removed (I am right handed). I also was diagnosed with non-alcoholic liver cirrhosis, which they found during the CT on my back and abdomen. I filed my disability claim Dec 2016, have been through the reconsideration and filing of appeal, and I had my hearing before the judge in Dec 2017. At the hearing, I had said that I couldn't sit upright in a chair for more than about 20 minutes at a time without my feet and legs swelling up as big as my thighs, and I have to return to my recliner and put my feet up for at least an hour before I can get any of the swelling to go down. Also, sitting upright in a chair puts strain on my back and causes severe pain. Walking and standing is extremely difficult and painful, which makes household chores difficult to do, which we discussed at the hearing. The judge asked the VE if there were jobs that I could do that would allow me to put my feet up for those time periods and he said no. So how much longer does this take and what am I waiting for? In the meantime, I have no money and I'm about to be evicted from my home and have no one that I can stay with. What am I waiting for now? Please advise.

Hi Stacey,
I really could not say, but the SSA may still be either deciding your case or has the decision in the writing stage. Every case is different and can take varying amounts of time.

Did you ever get approved?
I recently went in front of a judge with my lawyer, it been over a month now. I received a letter from the lawyer office saying that it can take up to 90-180 day before the judge make his decision. Been in and out of hospital, bill $65,000 don't have money to do anything. It's hard on me and my family but I have tried to work and recently I just cant. Can't lift over ten pounds, don't know what to do. It's funny the government don't mind taking from you but don't want to help when you are in need. This has been struggling times for me and my family. Try to stay positive.

Hi Gary,
Wishing you and your family nothing but the best.
I had hearing on Dec. 5 2017....the judge said that he would have decision that day... I have not heard anything yet. How long does it take to get the answer after he said he had it that day

You'll probably find out in March unfortunately.
I called the local ssa to ask about my decision letter ( hearing was 12/2018), clerk said letter was mailed out 2/21’ so just the other day ( check mail today and no letter). I asked her since letter was mailed was she able to give me the decision. She said that my letter is very lengthy, and to follow what letter says. My question to y’all...lengthy, good bad??? As most of you, sick just waiting to know
Thanx
UPDATE........
Received my decision letter yesterday and it was partially favorable. The judge pushed my date AOD up 1 year from the date I stated (my 50th birthday coincidentally). I'm fine with that and will not risk having it overturned by appealing it.
My case was initiated 5/2014....ALJ hearing 10/2017...Decision 2/2018 for those wondering time frame. The next phase is waiting on my reward letter...... It feels like forever....almost home :-)
