I suffer from anal incontinence caused by repeated tears to both external and internal anal sphincters during the deliveries of three of my children, and because it was not properly repaired the second time, which wasn't discovered until three years later. I have been to a colon & rectal surgeon & had specialized tests done (anorectal ultrasound, anal manometry, and electromyography). He said the risks of the surgery outweighed the probable benefits due to the type of surgery and the amount of scar tissue involved.
I've had this condition since 1986 and have lived a very restricted life. I have had to leave grocery stores mid-way through my shopping and left half full carts in the isle. I've had to get off an Amtrack train unexpectedly due to the toilets being frozen in the winter and not working. I've had to miss doctor appointments and return home to shower & change and rush back to the office. I've had to forego some medical care because I get my care at a clinic and the clinic only has certain appointments at 7 A.M. which I can't make it to. I've developed panic attacks as a result of these accidents & worrying about it happening. I had to quit the last 5 jobs I had because of either soiling while on the job or worrying about it, which sometimes actually makes it happen.
Will this be enough to qualify me as medically disabled? I don't believe I qualify for payments because it's been so long since I did work but it would help me obtain other benefits if I was declared medically disabled according to Social Security.
Thank you.
Not sorry I had my kids.
