SSI Back Pay Installments

Does anybody know whether that SSI back pay comes on a certain day of the month? I got my first installment the same week I was approved for SSI it came on the same day I got my first benefit. But I should receive one in January and I'm trying to figure out when I will see it? If anyone has any experience with receiving them in would love to hear about it!

Hi,

The first round of back pay is received about 4 months after you are awarded with the next payments coming every 6 months following that.

Got first installment of backpay in oct 2019 for the second in April 2020 the lawyer has told me they haven’t released their fee which is $6000 and I’m supposed to be issued the remainder which is $4000 is their any reason for a delay in the release of last installment?

Hi Mia, your payment generally comes 6 months after the second installment. I would expect to receive your check shortly, but your attorney will receive their payment right before you.

Hi Rodrekus,

We are not affiliated with the SSA, so you would need to contact the SSA to find out when specifically you'll receive back pay. Typically, back pay comes about 4 months after you begin receiving disability benefits.
