Does anybody know whether that SSI back pay comes on a certain day of the month? I got my first installment the same week I was approved for SSI it came on the same day I got my first benefit. But I should receive one in January and I'm trying to figure out when I will see it? If anyone has any experience with receiving them in would love to hear about it!

If you were approved for disability benefits within 5 months of applying (this is known as the waiting period), then you will not receive back pay. If you applied in May 2019, but were approved in May 2020, then you'll likely get back pay for 7 months (again, no back pay for the first 5 months you were waiting).

There is a 5 month "waiting period" that you will not receive back pay for. So if you applied in July, then you will not receive back pay for the 5 months after that.
You first installment typically will come about 4 months after you begin receiving benefits.
