SSI Back Pay Installments

Does anybody know whether that SSI back pay comes on a certain day of the month? I got my first installment the same week I was approved for SSI it came on the same day I got my first benefit. But I should receive one in January and I'm trying to figure out when I will see it? If anyone has any experience with receiving them in would love to hear about it!

My wife has been receiving SSI 4 about 14 years I have gotten sick myself so I signed up for SSI I immediately started receiving $570 a month . They have not sent me a award letter are back pay , is that normal just asking.

I've been getting SSI since March and when do I get the back pay no phone call nothing on the claim they did not get back in touch with me

Hi there,

If you are eligible for back pay, then you should find the amount in your awards letter. Back pay typically comes 4 months after you begin receiving your disability benefits.

I was approved finally after 7 years of fighting the SSA. Now it’s been 6 months and I have yet to receive any portion of any back pay... in 6 more months it’ll be an entire year of waiting for a first installment back payment. I’ve read nothing anywhere on the web, that says this is the usual. I’m livid!

Hi Taylor,

That does seem like it is longer than it should be. Generally it takes around four months for back pay to arrive after the start of monthly benefits. I would contact the SSA and speak with a represeantive from there.

I was approved in march got my first back pay installment on 3/11 And my first regular ssi payment on 4/1 so my question is will my second installment come on 9/11?

Hi i was wandering if you could tell me when i should get my second backpay check? I recieved my first one on april 26 2019. Does that mean i wint get it until the 26 of october?
