I'm clueless about filing a claim for SSDI and need some good advice. I had a traumatic accident and since have noticed a number of personal issues that correspond to PTSD. That accident happened 9 years ago and was gruesome enough that a friend of mine ( he's a psychologist) said I probably have PTSD from it. I shrugged it off back then but now wonder if I should have.
So here are my questions:
1) Is it too late to file?
2) What are the first steps to take? See a lawyer or doctor first?
3) I have worked on and off but haven't been able to keep jobs...will that disqualify me?
I hate to even think about getting SSDI but after that accident and 9 years of trying to cope I see no other option. I worked hard for over 30 years up until the accident then tried hard the next 9 years with no success. I am so tired and spent at this point never thought I'd end up at the place I'm at now in my life.
Hi There,
It's not too late to file if you have had PTSD. IF you've worked five of the last ten years, you may be eligible for SSDI. I would definitely speak with both a disability advocate or lawyer and a doctor about your PTSD. If you fill out the form on the left of this page, we can have a lawyer reach out to you.
