SSA found that I became disabled in June 2016, and that I became eligible to receive benefits beginning November 2016. I've been working all along. My nine-month trial period ends in July 2017.
In February 2017, I earned $1562, more than the $1170 limit on substantial gainful activity. I will not be earning more than $1170 in future months. Will my benefits be terminated in August because I earned too much money in February? I've called to ask, and I've been told that they may or may not be terminated. I'm hoping to get a more definitive answer so I can plan my finances.
Thanks for any help with this.
Hi there,
Hi there,
You may not lose your benefits, as you would have to earn over the SSA's threshold for a successful trial work month, which is $840 in 2017. If you earn more than that for each month of your trial work period, you may become ineligible for benefits.
