SSI and SSDI Concurrent Benefits

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

My disabled son has been receiving SSI. I He's also now eligible for SSDI based on his mothers recent retirement and his benefit is calculated based on her SS earnings. My question is this: will his SSDI monthly benefit be in addition to his SSI monthly benefit or will one offset the other?

SSI just isn't enough

Im sure I'm not the only person in this position. I don't qualify for SSDI so I'm on SSI. I have Cystic Fibrosis, diabetes, epilepsy, mild scoliosis, and kidney disease. Is there any other kind of assistance I can apply for? I know I can work a little, which I have but I get sick and have to quit or miss work. I'm just really depressed about my situation.

SSI & credit card debt

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

Hello,

I currently receive SSI (I'm an adult and I live in VA) and am having problems making my credit card payment each month now because of the interest. I have seen on other sites that it's ok if a family members pays off the card for you if they directly pay the bank and not give the money to you, that it will not affect your SSI. Was wondering if there was any truth to this? I would rather not file bankruptcy and ruin my credit. Thanks!

SSI and Social Security

My boyfriend and I are both disabled and we both get social security disability . But he gets Supplemental Security Income and food stamp money from the food stamp program . My question is how does that affect are chances of getting married someday . We are concerned about how that would affect the benefits we both receive .

Child support paid out in ssi

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

My son turned 18 in October and i have a court order that ssi payments go to me in place of child support due to dad being disabled. His dad convinced my son that money is his to spend how he chooses. So my son is keeping money since it comes in his name now. So my question is this do i file with social security again or do i have to file for a new child support payment. He is still a senior in high school till may.

Skin / Burns Category

My grand daughter is being evaluated from child SSI to adult. She has been on it since she was 18 months old when she was badly injured in a house fire. She is now 18. SSA has added a skin and burn category for skin disorders and burns which she in my opinion clearly qualifies due to the scarring from head to toe, minus the face thank the good lord. She is utterly beautiful!
