Hampton SSD Hearings

It is highly likely that your initial application for benefits will be denied since almost two-thirds of disability applications are denied at this stage. The best chance an applicant has of being approved for benefits is during the disability hearing stage.

All Hampton residents will have to travel to Norfolk Office of Disability Adjudication and Review (ODAR) office for their disability hearings. Be prepared for a long wait as it can take over a year to have hearing scheduled due to the backlog of cases at the Norfolk ODAR.

Sometimes it can be difficult for those in an extremely difficult financial or medical situation to wait a year. If you are in a dire situation, you can contact your local congressman to see if he or she will be able to intervene to have your hearing scheduled sooner.
