Hi Teresa,

A diagnosis of Primary Biliary Disease won't necessarily medically qualify you. But if you're able to meet the requirements for a Blue Book listing, then you might. I'd look over the SSA's Blue Book, specifically Section 5.00 Digestive System, with your doctor to see if you qualify.

Hello! I am 28 years old, 4ft 7in, I believe I have a rare form of dwarfism NPR2. I have long limbs and a very short torso which crushes my lungs along with all of my organs. I was diagnosed with asthma, arthritis in my ankles, anxiety, endometriosis, and IBSD. I also visit a chiropractor for a curved spine and neck. It's hard for me to work with being in pain and shortness of breath even just walking.

Hi Kemi,

I would look over the SSA's Blue Book with your doctor to see if you one of the conditions you are experiencing qualifies you for disability benefits. In the Blue Book, the qualifying conditions have specific criteria that must be met. You will also need to have enough work credits or be within specific income limits!

Hi Roxanna,

You may qualify for disability benefits if the SSA deems your condition severe enough.  You should review the SSA's Blue Book to see the criteria for each condition. You should also have enough work credits to qualify.

Hi Tamara, the SSA may provide disability benefits to those who have vision loss and severe asthma. To qualify you must meet the requirement outlined in the Blue Book for those conditions. You can apply for SSI directly on the SSA site.
