Hi There,

You could be able to qualify for SSI benefits for your learning disability, however, you wouldn't be able to qualify for Social Security benefits based off of your height.

To apply for SSI benefits, you have to schedule an appointment to do so at your local SSA office.

Hi There,

Not for your height alone. If you have any physical ailments that will force you to be out of work for at least 12 months you could qualify for disability benefits because of that.

Hi Jen,

You cannot qualify for disability benefits based on your height alone. You will need to be experiencing a condition outlined in the SSA's Blue Book.

Hi Jenn,

Your daughter may qualify depending on the severity of each of her conditions. You can review the Blue Book online with her doctor to see if she meets the listings requirements. Her height will not qualify her for disability benefits but the others may if the Blue Book's criteria.

It will likely be best for your daughter to apply once she is 18. If she were to apply before she turns 18, your income and/or your spouse's income will be factored into her eligibility and if you make a decent living wage she will automatically be disqualified.

Hi Kelly,

That would be something you should ask a medical professional about. But if you are simply 4'11" and without any other physical ailments that will fore you to be out of work for at least 12 months, you will not qualify for SSD benefits.
