Direct Deposit

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

I currently receive SSI for my middle son, it comes to me in the form of a check. How do I get this to be direct deposit into my checking account?

Hi Laura,
I'm sorry to hear about that! If you're switching banks, it's a good idea to make sure that the money is deposited in the new account before closing the old one.

Hi Kurtisha,
I really could not say as I don't have the necessary information to say, but you may want to contact your local SSA office regarding when you will be paid.

I was wondering how to change my SSI from my direct express card to a checking account with a bank. Do I do that online or through a bank? and if so, how long before my deposit date should I make the change so I don't have any interruptions with my income deposits. Thanks.

Hi Michael,

Your SSI benefits are paid on the first day of each month. If the first is on a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday, your benefits will be paid on the banking day before. The SSA recommends calling the agency at 800-772-1213 if you have not received your check by the fourth banking day of the month.

Best Wishes,
Eric

I use a prepaid debit card for my disability check. I usually have received my funds by now, even though they aren't due until the 3rd.
Is the slow deposit this month due to our new president?

Hi Cindy,

It could be a for a variety reasons, however I can't say for sure it's because of President Trump. You may want to contact the SSA regarding this at 1-800-772-1213.

Best Wishes,
Eric
