ssa asking fordirect deposit information before being approved

I currently have a pe ding ssdiclaim and I received a phone call from my as representative. They needed to verified prior years gross income and also needed my direct deposit information. Why would they need that info if I haven't been approved yet?

Found this because I have the same thing happening now. I noticed you posted a year ago so if you have ever found the answer it would be so appreciated if you can tell what the answer is.

Hi there,
They may take that information prior to their decision to ensure that the claims process is not impeded by the need to obtain the needed information at the time of approval or denial.
