Hi ? I have a niece who has a learning disability. I would like to know where can I take her to get evaluate and diagnosis.

im 55 and have mild MR and was special Ed but my dad died I was 5 then we got ss for that. my momdid get disabilty for me cause she was special ed a didnt know. I now get ssi for mild M.R. how come they make me not get my daddys ssdi because even though it took me long time I was 26 , I still was MR when I was 5 and ss wont listen to me or let me tell them.

Hi Melody,
Your father may not have had the work record needed to be eligible for SSDI on his own, but if he does it may be a good idea to contact the SSA and confirm if you're still eligible for disability benefits based off of his work record.

My wife and I was informed a year ago that our daughter has been diagnosed as being intellectual disabled. We was informed by the physician that we needed to apply for SSI for our daughter which is thirteen, which we have not done. We revisited her genetics doctors for further testing and just found out that she has a rare chromosome disorder called paternal 14. What do we need to do?
