It generally takes between 3-5 months to hear back from the SSA regarding your claim. If you don't hear by then, I would recommend speaking with a SSA rep.
You can receive a disability benefit known as Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) if you are experiencing a mental disorder. To qualify for SSDI you would need to meet the medical requirements for that disorder. You will also have have obtained enough work credits for SSDI. Work credits are earned as you work and pay money into Social Security taxes. I hope that helped clean things up!

My roommate and i have filled out paperwork on my daily actives and I have seen a SSN doctor. But I do not have enough work credit. Does this mean I won't be able to get SSI? Instead of SSDI..
If you don't have enough work credits, it may be more difficulty to qualify for SSDI benefits, however you could still qualify for SSI because as SSI is not based is not based on any prior work history.

If you do not have the required work credits, unfortunately you will not be able to qualify for SSDI. However you may be able to qualify for SSI.
SSDI is based on work credits and SSI is based on income/assets. Hope this clears up any confusion.
