Waiting for decision

I became disabled in October of 2010 and applied for SSDI. I have been treated by my doctor every week since then and have retained an attorney for my SSDI process.

I have been paying in to the Social Security system for 38 years and am 55 years old. I had been at my last job for 20 years until I had to retire in June 2012 due to my disability.

During my hearing the judge asked the Vocational Expert if I would be able to do full time work in my present position and she told the judge that I would not be able to. The judge then asked I would be able to do full time work in any position and the VE answered no, that I would not.

My doctor also provided paperwork that stated that I have a total disability and could not do any work. I also provided a letter from my former boss who I worked directly for the entire 20 years stating that I was a dependable and dedicated employee until I started missing a lot of days during the summer of 2010 due to the start up of my disability.

I just found out that my case is with a Decision Writer and would be turning the case back over to the judge in a couple of weeks.

My question is, with my work history, age, doctors treatment and findings of the Vocational Expert, what would be my chances of being rewarded benefits?

If your lawyer call you to tell you that your case been closed and that the judge have to sign off so she said we just have to wait for a letter in the mail and the lawyer is waiting for a letter to what do this mean did I win my case for ssi

Im truly sorry to read most of these post about waiting so long for a decision. Its been 11 months after my initisl application that i had a hearing. I got my hearing 2 months after my attorney sent my application to the hearing office. My hearing went good. My attorney did most of the talking. Mine is for mental. So please dont discourage a if you have a mental diagnosis, it is possible. My hearing was 2 weeks ago. Im just waiting for a decision. And even if its a denial im prepared. Just grateful to see a judge 11 months from my initial application

HI Victor,
every case can vary, so it can take varying amounts of time depending on where you are in the application process.

Hi There,

I can't say for sure, since I do not not know the specifics of your case, but in some cases that could happen. Wishing you nothing but the best.

Í had my second hearing on the 20th of this month and I won my case. They owe me almost 4 years of disability checks. Not sure when I get the money. The judge said at the end I would receive the letter from 30 to 45 days. So I'm waiting.

Also......i waited 3 years for my 1st hearing. Then was sent to another Dr. And then came my 2nd and last hearing. And finally I won and didn't even had to talk. The judge on both hearings was with a Dr on her side. So in total with my Dr included were 4. And 3 of them from ss. It's not easy.

I had my hearing Sept 15. I callled today Nov 2nd to the hearing office. They told me they are still waiting on the judge to make a decision. After the hearing my lawyer told me we won our case. How would he know if the judge didnt tell us.

Hi Deedee,

For some reason, attorneys typically hear decisions before the claimant does. He might just have a good feeling about the case too! You can check your claim's status under your My SSA account.
