Direct Deposit

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

I currently receive SSI for my middle son, it comes to me in the form of a check. How do I get this to be direct deposit into my checking account?

my daughter recently got approved for SSI. She has only received her first check last month. I enrolled in direct deposit. When can i expect her payment in September? How long does it take for her back payment to come? And how long does it take for direct deposit to start instead of paper checks?

I receive SSI direct deposit, i get paid on the first of the month. My check has always been deposited after midnight and available by am on the first. It is August 1 at 12:30 pm and my check has still not gone in. Should i be worried?

Hi Carol,
processing times can vary by financial institution, so it may just be a delay on their end. You may want to contact either them or the SSA for more information about your payment.

It is a fact that if you close a bank account, the SSA will stupidly keep that account in their system, then eventually deposit money into it! I closed a bank account March 28 via phone, have a letter from them dated April 4 stating it was closed. My SSDI goes into a new account. Sure enough, on 9/1 when a back payment of $2,205 from SSI came due, they put it in the old account! This was 2 weeks ago, I'm still trying to get my money. They are stating old account never sent it back, but it's their fault they deposited it into a closed account any way! They said go into my local office, who are always 100% rude and useless, to let them know that I closed the account, even tho I did by phone in March!
SSA is stating that if you call and close a bank account, new deposits will go into new account, but inexplicably, back pay will go into your old, closed account. And of course this is not their fault. So I'm having fun chasing my money as the bank says they never got it and SSA says oh well, we DD it into you closed account. Totally unprofessional!

Hi there,
You may want to keep any old accounts open until you know that the SSA is depositing all money into the new account. Generally, it makes it easier to correct any banking errors if they do happen, and it ensures that your money is able to be sent to you.

Can I have my disability and social security disability sent to my daughter and son-in-law bank account instead direct to me on a card. Without me being on their account to take care of paying my bills for me and how can I do it.
