Hi, I'm 4'8 1/
I grow up w/a learning disability
In 8th grade I got in an accident & have Tramatic brain injury now I'm 35 & get really bad headache & ALL my doctor gives me is
IBprofen 800 that she says take 2 at the same time if really bad. Also she has told me that I'm bipolar & has giving me medicine for, but they make me tired when I go to work.
Can I apply?

Hi there,
Yes, as the Americans with Disabilities Act covers everyone with a disability as defined by the act, regardless of their SSDI eligibility.

Hi Jeevan,
You would be eligible for benefits if your stature makes you unable to work, rather than just what you look like or your height.

I'm very confused. I'm 4'6" and have been told countless times that since I am considered a "midget" that I would qualify for a disability because of how hard it would be to work. Other than that the only problems I have is my asthma.

Hi Annette,
A diagnosis of dwarfism does not mean that you are eligible for benefits unless it affects your ability to work, you don't qualify simply for having dwarfism. You may want to contact a disability attorney or advocate if you are unable to work due to your stature, you can get in touch with one by filling out this form:
