I became disabled in October of 2010 and applied for SSDI. I have been treated by my doctor every week since then and have retained an attorney for my SSDI process.

I have been paying in to the Social Security system for 38 years and am 55 years old. I had been at my last job for 20 years until I had to retire in June 2012 due to my disability.

During my hearing the judge asked the Vocational Expert if I would be able to do full time work in my present position and she told the judge that I would not be able to. The judge then asked I would be able to do full time work in any position and the VE answered no, that I would not.

My doctor also provided paperwork that stated that I have a total disability and could not do any work. I also provided a letter from my former boss who I worked directly for the entire 20 years stating that I was a dependable and dedicated employee until I started missing a lot of days during the summer of 2010 due to the start up of my disability.

I just found out that my case is with a Decision Writer and would be turning the case back over to the judge in a couple of weeks.

My question is, with my work history, age, doctors treatment and findings of the Vocational Expert, what would be my chances of being rewarded benefits?

The judge have made a decision on my social security case and it's with the writers what does that mean

Hi Connie,

A Social Security Decision Writer takes the judge's legal decisions and writes the language for it. It's all apart of the process.

I am in the process of waiting on a hearing date. My lawyer called me on Thursday and said that my case had been pulled for review, which he said was rare since I am already waiting on a hearing. He asked me a couple of questions and then told me what I would be getting if they approve me. What does this mean?

I really could not say as the review does not indicate anything about your case other than it was pulled for review. However, that does mean they have people looking at it!

I had my hearing back in 10-18-2016 I called my local social security office and told me to call the local hearing office I did I was told the judge has made a descion and its at the under writer, I check my on line statues and its say processing do you think I am approve I will be 51 in june .

I really could not say as these are just parts of the disability application process, they may not indicate a denial nor may they indicate an approval.

I had my hearing in December, I've been told by my attorney that my hearing went well and I had a good chance. It's been 90 days and It's still pending a decision! I've sold everything I own to keep my house and was wondering if the hearing went well, why is it taking so long for the judge to make her decision???

How many times can someone file for SSI? I went thru the complete process previously and was denied. I have refiled with a different attorney and currently waiting on an AJH

I filed a nonmedical reconsideration on Sept. 29, 2016 it was finally sent to dds on Jan. 23,2017 as of now Mar. 15 ,2017 it has not been assigned to a case worker. How long should a reconsideration like this take?

Hi Naomi,
The time frame for a reconsideration depends on the case, however they can generally take between three and five months.

I just received a letter from SSA just stating the over pay I received in may 2015 through august 2015 because of a warrant i had while I was receiving benefits. But it does not state anything about future benefits. Is this a good sign that my case is moving along since I received this letter should I see a payment soon.

Hi there,
You may still be eligible for benefits, however it may be a good idea to contact your local SSA office regarding this as they can give you detailed information that would be specific to your particular case.

I went to court on 01-06-2017, they said my file is with the writer department. Why does it take so long for them to write up the decision

I had my hearing was March 15th. Lawyer seems to think it went well because vicational expert noted there were no jobs i could perform. Judge extended my case for 21 days to obtain the rest if my records. Been trying for almost 2 years.. will my hearing have a good outcome if ve testimony?

I really could not say, however having a lawyer on your side and a vocational expert testifying in your case both seem like positive things!
