I received two lump sum payments, but I have not spent all of the funds. I want to make a funeral arrangement and buy a car. How soon must I spend the lump sum payment.
If my PERS benefits ran out and I was refunded the account balance will it affect SSI? I am disabled and the refund from PERS I had to use to payback a loan I had with my son.
My son was reviving survivor benefits and stopped when he was in states custody for a year.
He has since returned home and custody has been returned to me.
He just received a payment for September and we are curious if he will receive his payments from when he was in states custody....
We have settled the payment with the recovery service office

My sons father receives Ssdi and was claiming him as a dependent. The SSA found that he owes that $ to my son (beneficiary) since I am his sole care giver and the funds should have stayed with him, not his father. Will my son ever receive those benefits? It’s close to 9k
The letter from SSA said they would be collecting it from the father...once they do, do they pay the child back? I’ve tried to call SSA and am on hold for hours!
If I'm homeless and I live in my car and my car is broken, I also have a back payment of 23,000.00 can social security help me buy another vehicle.
You may be able to use some of your Social Security benefits to help buy a car, but I would recommend speaking to a SSA representative first just to be safe.
