Hi Shani,
If you are unable to work due to your height, you may be eligible for benefits. However, if your stature does not affect your ability to work, you may not be eligible for benefits.

I am still trying to work as I retire, but took early SS due to inability to find suitable employment because I have lost over 2 inches in height. I was just told today that I could be eligible for a little persons disability. Is this true?

Hi Barbara,
If your stature has impaired your ability to work, you may be eligible for benefits based on that fact. It is not determined solely by your height.

I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2007. I just recently had to go out of work from my FULLTIME job of 16 years due to not being able to perform my duties anymore because of MS. Will it be hard to get approved for ssdi?

Hi Paula,
I would not be able to say if you are considered a little person as that would be a medical determination that I am not qualified to make. However, if your condition makes you unable to work, you may qualify for benefits.

I'm just 4'11"... 72 yrs old, having leg and hip problems from poor work conditions; meaning chairs aren't made for short people to sit in8-9 hours a day for 50 years which caused my hips and short legs to lose blood flow over such long period of time. I do SS but was wondering if I could also get disabilities.

Hi there,
You may be eligible for benefits if your condition is severe enough to keep you from working. It may be a good idea to speak with a disability advocate or attorney, they would be able to help maximize your chances of being awarded benefits.

Hi Candice,
I'm sorry to hear about all that! You may qualify for benefits, but many people are denied the first time they apply. It may be a good idea to speak with a disability advocate or attorney, as they can help you through the process of appeals. If you fill out the form here:
http://www.disability-benefits-help.org/form/free-disability-evaluation
We can have one reach out to you.
